The Official Charts Company have announced that Rage Against The Machine are currently outselling X-Factor winner Joe McElderry in the race for the Christmas number one.
Midweek figures show that the alternative rockgroup have sold 10% more than the reality TV star, spurred on by a facebook group of over 750,000 members. X Factor creator Simon Cowell have already slammed the campaign, calling it “stupid.”
The internet campaign has also raised £30,000 for homeless charity Shelter.
